Cutty Sark 1/220 Revell
Don't know if this Cutty Sark model is ready yet, it feels like you could fiddle with it forever but at least almost all of the parts which were in the box are now put together and it's "on display" in our living room.
This isn't particularily accurate model of the actual Cutty Sark and as a practice project there's certainly room for improvement here and there (some slack lines, bulged knots etc.). Yet it looks nice and classic living room decorating object as it is.
The vac-formed plastic sails aren't perfect, but in this scale there are no easy alternatives either. Also, some details are quite crude and many even missing altogether, but again considering the 1:220 scale it's not too bad. The rigging is definitely quite basic, it's not even close to the actual jungle of ropes and wires in the real ship but I still consider the Revell rigging guide excellent for the purpose. Besides, one has to start somewhere and this kit was a very satisfying and educating experience as a whole.
