Finnair Airbus A319 Retro "OH-LVE" 1/144 Revell

Here's my attempt at the Finnair Retro-livery 'Silver Bird'. To be frank, I'm not particularily fond of this Revell kit although it is as nice as any of the modern Revell kits. The model does really look similar to the real thing, the proportions are about right but still I think it's not 100% accurate, can't say why but that's just what it feels like. Anyway, the TwoSix decals were nice, perhaps the blue shade is a tad too bright but I can easily live with it.

I wanted to build this model while the real Silver Bird is flying with this livery and I'm glad I made it. If you ask me, they should keep it like this forever, it's a very succesful modern adaptation of the original 1950's Finnair and even older Aero Oy painting schemes. But fortunately it isn't going to be repainted for a while yet. Well done, Finnair!

Ansett Australia Boeing 737-200 "VH-CZO", Melbourne 1995 1/144 Airfix

Luckily this Airfix B737 kit has been re-issued, as I've always wanted to build this -200 version in 1/144 scale. This must be one of their best modern jet kits, as it looks really nice when finished. Of course it is a bit simplified and loosely detailled but as so often with Airfix it somehow catches the essence of the airplane and it's design.

This model was built out-of-the-box, with the sole exception of cockpit decals from a Daco Skyline kit sheet as there weren't any with the original Airfix. Kit decals were otherwise rather basic but very high quality and quite appropriate. Building this model was a real joy, now I'd like to try the New Zealand option from the kit sheet and possibly even one more with some Lufthansa aftermarket decals, perhaps?
